First audio recording begins Wednesday!

Monday, March 27th, 2006

I am recording the singing for the first of the musical acts on Wednesday with Melanie. This song is looking to turn out pretty awesome.

In other news, I’ve found which company I’m going to go with for the DVD replication. They do some fantastic work and the final disk will be very professional, shrink-wrapped and all. It’s going to be nice.

To answer some previous blog questions:

Pierre - After Effects is better if you have a more complicated scene to animate. The advanced controls make difficult animation tasks pretty simple to pull off. Flash has the advantage of real-time preview though, so for shorter animations it is usually faster (and easier) to make it all in Flash. In the end it’s really what you prefer. After Effects is not just an animation program, you can do advanced video compositing and a whole bunch of cool effects, so I suggest anyone interested in movie making grab a copy and learn it. It has a high learning curve though, so don’t expect to be able to do anything with it right away.

Funky Dragon - the camera movements are controlled via tweened motion paths. All of the character animation however I do frame by frame. It gives it a sort of “stop motion cut-out” look, and it moves much nicer. It takes a lot longer to do it frame by frame, but in the end it’s worth it.
